The Details
Ambulance package, aux switches, etc. FreedomVanGo did almost the entire build, including a second alternator and a full Victron 3000W inverter with 990AH of 12V Victron batteries. 30A 110V shore plug, 500W of solar, and/or 200A of auxiliary alternator are your charging options. There’s enough power to run the RecPro roof-mount AC unit all night on high (which you should pretty much never need to do) and have enough juice in the morning to make coffee before deciding how to recharge.
There’s a Maxxair roof fan in the rear along with 2×4” fresh air intake vents near the floor that can be opened and closed independently, which does a great job of giving you plenty of fresh air when the outdoor temps are comfortable. When it gets cold, there’s a Webasto diesel furnace that’s very efficient and more than enough to keep the cabin warm (a 1000W space heater will also do the job fine when you’re plugged into shore power).
The interior build-out is a full Adventure Wagon interior (walls, bed) with a custom floor by FreedomVanGo (insulated). The van walls/ceiling are insulated with 3M Thinsulate, which works very well. A full magnetic Van Essentials window treatment system is included for insulation/privacy when parked, and there’s also a full screen system for the rear doors and sliding door, including a magnetic release on the side door that works great. There’s a custom-built galley with plenty of room for the included induction burner and a good-sized sink, plus a 5-gal fresh water container you can easily remove to refill and a 5-gal grey water container to dump. At the rear is a separate 20-gallon water tank with a hose fill and overflow/drain that feeds a rear-mounted propane on-demand hot water heater with a shower head you can use outside the rear doors, plus a full shower curtain for privacy (but yes, you’re fully outdoors only to shower).
There’s a BRAND NEW NEVER USED fancy toilet that stows easily that seals your waste fully in a National Park Service-approved container you can throw away in any waste bin without fear of smell or spill (but is ultimately biodegradable). Also included is a very large 12V compressor-based fridge, but no freezer (plenty of room to add a separate freezer of nearly any size you like).
The sleeping situation is a queen-size elevated rear bed that’s adjustable height because there’s room underneath to carry as many as 6 bicycles on a custom pull-out shelf and fork racks (four is easy, five a little tricky, and six possible if you have to). There’s also a full-length couch behind the driver’s seat that can jackknife into a double bed, too. And several Adventure Wagon upper soft cabinets. Several drawers available in the galley, plus a full-length drawer under the couch. There’s a lot more storage than you think, with several ways to add more if you find you need more (I didn’t). The cab has CarPlay on an aftermarket large screen, and the front passenger seat can swivel to the rear on a custom mount that keeps it level with the driver’s seat.
It has an aftermarket complete suspension (all FreedomVanGo installed), including rear air springs that can not only be controlled to level a large load or tongue load when towing, but also used to help level side to side when parked. And it has a receiver hitch that has around a 7500# towing load. Drives and handles wonderfully in all conditions. It has a wonderful awning and plenty of lights pointed in all directions, making it easy to get into a tight camp spot at night or light up your party.
It’s a wonderful rig built to the highest standards with very low miles. Just a couple of cross-country trips and a few other shorter trips are all it’s had. Life changed by the time I got it done, and it no longer fits my needs. But it was done right in every way, and FreedomVanGo (in Jacksonville, Florida) is still around and willing to help with anything that an owner could need.
